I’m sitting here writing this blog post with my brand new bleach trays in my mouth. Just picked them up from the dentist today, and I’m very excited to erase all the coffee stains I’ve heaped upon my gnashers over the past four years. But something doesn’t feel quite right. I wish I had a way to ask all of you a question and get an instant answer. But I don’t.
So, anyway…I guess it’s a bad thing if your gums are sizzling when you have your bleach trays in. I’m assuming something isn’t right and my first thought that the bleach is killing germs isn’t right. Because my gums are BURNING.
And now, after a quick trip to the bathroom to check the whole thing, I’ve realized after five minutes that ONE OF MY GUMS IS BLEACHED. Seriously. This isn’t good. It looks strange and I’m sure it’s all my fault because I heaped too much of that whitening goo in the plastic trays.
Leave it to me to become overzealous about something. Take it to the extreme. I think I do this with many things.
Take for example, this song –
Even though I’m not like a huge Muse fan or anything, I’ve decided I LOVE this song and I will listen to it at least fifty times a day. That’s right, FIFTY.
I exhibit the same behavior with foods or an article of clothing. When I decide to like something, I like the hell out of it and then two weeks later I realize I don’t want to hear eight more notes of the song or smell that particular food again for at least eight months.
Call it part of my individual psychosis, call it overkill, I just call it enthusiasm.
My behavior sort of reminds me of this small white dog my grandpa used to have. The dog was called Chivas. He had a favorite stuffed animal…a very large white monstrosity probably won at a fair or something. And whenever Chivas would see the stuffed animal he would mount that thing and hump it. Like, MADLY HUMP IT. We would all just sit and watch him get busy on that thing, loving it up poodle style.
It was really creepy.
Wait. Does this make me creepy??
I’ve also been obsessed lately with my new purple clutch from Camilla Combs.

I tried to take a picture of myself holding the clutch, but that didn’t work out so well. My hand just looked extremely old.
I drag my new purple bag around everywhere. It makes a nice pillow when needed. It holds pretty much anything you can imagine, is a great color, made from a lovely quality of leather, and designed by Ms. Combs. Which means I’m doing my best to support local college grads/stylists/purse designers/blondies. You should go to her website and buy yourself one for Christmas. And one for your cousin. You won’t regret it.
I really must go now. I think my gums might be bleeding.
